Charity
Take the time to read about Vogue’s past and present charitable efforts. This year Vogue is contributing directly to the Kingston community by raising money for two local elementary schools.

- In 2006, $16,500 was raised for P.R.O (Positive Recreation Opportunities) Kids Kingston.
- In 2007, $23,000 was donated to Kingston General Hospital (KGH).
- In 2008, $28,000 was donated to the Kingston Youth Shelter.
- In 2009, $32,000 was raised for Queen’s Camp Outlook.
Vogue’s Literacy Initiative in Kingston
This year, we are thrilled to be able to contribute directly to the literacy initiative in two local primary schools; Frontenac Public School and Holy Family Catholic School. Both Frontenac and Holy Family have strong ties to the Queen’s community: they host big buddy programs that powerfully impact Queen’s students through the inspiration and friendship that grows from the partnership. We are hoping to give back to schools that have touched the lives of hundreds of Queen’s students. Both schools were chosen as a result of their goal to improving their literacy test scores on province-wide standardized tests. One of the barriers to achieving this goal is a deficiency of resources: both schools are greatly in need of the books, technology and space to promote reading and writing in a fun, engaging manner. With your help we are hoping to raise $ 40,000 through the show in 2010, to be split evenly between Holy Family Catholic School and Frontenac Public School in order to further develop their literacy programs. In addition, we have asked that every member of Vogue – from Executive Members to cast and crew – to donate a new copy of their favorite children’s book, inscribed with a message explaining why they love the book. These books will then be donated to the Holy Family and Frontenac as an initial contribution to their libraries.
Vogue Charity Fashion Show is one of the most highly attended events of the year at Queen’s University and in the Kingston community and has proven to be an enormous success year after year. Vogue’s vision as a charitable event is to use our potential as an extensive collaboration of talent and dedication to give back to the community beyond the university. This year, by donating our target of $40,000 to two primary schools in need of academic support, Vogue hopes to combine Fashion, Fantasy and Fiction to show that fairy tales can indeed come true. Through your support, we can belieVe in this dream.
